Returning to the extravagance and charm of Concorde

In March 1969, only months before Neil Armstrong strolled on the moon, Concorde made its lady flight. The supersonic plane epitomized a dream of things to come as brave as that of Apollo 11 - yet obviously better looking.

No plane has caught the open creative energy very like Concorde, despite the fact that just 20 were ever constructed, and they were flown by only two carriers. Today, about 50 years on, despite everything it remains as a standout amongst humankind's most wonderful building accomplishments, and a genuinely ageless bit of structure.

Another book titled "Supersonic" affectionately features the structure and way of life of Concorde, an eminently designed machine from a modern past. "A great deal of plans that were propelled by the fantasy and positive thinking of the fly age hold a demeanor of the period in which they were conceived," said Lawrence Azerrad, writer of the new book "Supersonic: The Design and Lifestyle of Concorde," in a telephone meet.

"They were cutting edge at the time, yet they certainly appear to be nostalgic at this point.

"In any case, by one way or another, Concorde's structure still stays cutting edge, despite the fact that it was made in the in all respects mid 1960s. It's a dream of our future from our past."
